Variety is the spice of life

Its all go!

Its been a very busy period for me on the Equinalysis front.  I've been engaged in a variety of activities, including speaking at the recent Equinalysis 'Business Partner' Open Day at Kilbees farm Stud (an amazing place), filming potential Olympic jumping horses, top National Hunt racehorses and arranging conferences.  Really exciting!

US Trip Update

First full day since arriving in the USA. I gave my hosts a presentation similar to the one that I gave on Saturday at the McTimoney event, which they really liked.  It provided an intro in to what we are about.  We then went through a demonstration of Equinalysis......they seemed happy with all aspects of the system and able to clearly see the potential applications which the system has.  We then went on to screen one of their horses however once marked up we noticed the horse was lame....so we didn't carry on with that, however I MUST stress that they could see the screening set up and I talked them through the next stages as if we were screening. I brought a tape with some raw footage on so I will use that today as if it was their horses.
So in general, all is going well.  I experienced US fast food at a local diner, I had a double cheese burger.....it was mega big it made me full for the rest of the day.......
I am back on Friday not Thursday as first thought, Friday @12.  Speak soon! - Russell

Trip to the California to demonstrate Equinalysis

I thought I would drop you an email with my diary comments. Landed safely in America then had to negotiate passport control. This is daunting as US immigration are strict on who enters and for what reason. However it all went smoothly I just had to give finger prints and mug shot.

My luggage arrived as well which was a relief, the organisers of this trip are wonderfully very excited and keen to see the system.

It is approx 3pm in the afternoon, 10pm UK time I am rather tired, been up all night traveling but equally very excited about tomorrow when I present the system and then screen several horses.

So for now thats all, will be sure to blog tomorrow with my news. - Russell

McTimoney Seminar Lecture

I was asked to present at last Saturdays McTimony AGM Seminar at The Hare and Hounds Hotel in Tebury.  In front of a 60 strong audience I presented Centaur Biomechanics and explained the critical benefits that the Equinalysis system, combined with proven data gathering and analysis procedures, can bring to enhance a sounds horses (and riders) performance and aid lameness diagnosis.  I must have touched a cord with many of the delegates, resulting in many interesting questions.

Will post my next blog form sunny (I hope) California.  - Russell

Involvement in Research

Just had a good trip to Scotland where I was invited by the ILPH and Edinburgh University to take part in some cutting edge research (thats an additional benefit of being an Equinalysis 'Business Partner').

Trials were carried out over three days using instant capture within the Equinalysis system.  I was especially pleased as we used reflective markers and high speed cameras.   All trials were successful during the data acquisition phase.

This trip adds to my growing research portfolio and I look forward to reading the published outcome of this weeks trials.  This also reinforces the excellent use of such system in a research setting.

Off to Sunny California

Things are not only getting busy for me here in the UK but I have a 3 day trip planned to California at the begining of April.  Equinalysis is getting increasing interest from many other countries and have asked me to go to the US to carry out a series of demonstrations.

Will let you know how I get on.

Centaur speaks with Mary Wanless

I was invited to speak, as a late stand-in for Dr Hilary Clayton', at the 'Naked Truth' of riding along side the well renowned Mary Wanless.  I gave a talk on the biomechanics of the performance horse and Mary demonstrated her theories on four riders.

Later that day I demonstrated the Equinalysis system to quantifiably assess the discrete improvements in horses movement, supporting Mary's theories.

While I wouldn't profess to be a match for Hilary in terms of knowledge and experience (I'm only 23 years old) I was pleased with the day and received great feedback.

Too much in one day

Screened 7 horses, which was good as this was the most i have done in one day. On reflection i would maybe split the horses up as the weather was overcast and daylight hours were limited. But in general it went well all the horses were good and the owners were very happy with the process.....  Lesson learnt.  Russell
